How do I start buying on Ethically+ Market?

Please sign up to buy and provide KYC information. It is important to provide as much information as you can and that it be as accurate as possible. Missing business information or incorrect details will delay verification and may result in delays to your orders.

How does Ethically+ help buyers?


Ethically+ is a B2B wholesale marketplace that makes buying of precious metals, raw or cut& polished diamonds and gemstones, jewelry from artisanal , small and medium sized manufacturers and handmade producers around the world easy and frictionless.

We represent an opportunity to source differently by offering:

  • an ever growing selection of handmade, authentic and small-batch manufactured products: to read more about these products and the people that produce them, please read our report;
  • access to sellers worldwide, where a seller is defined as an artisanal producer, small or medium sized manufacturers.
  • a one-stop solution from discovery to delivery;
  • product customization to build exclusive products and collections for your brand;
  • buyer friendly terms, including low minimum order quantities (MOQs); and
  • secure payment via Escrow.

Who can shop on Ethically+ Market?

We welcome buyers, jewelry retailers and traders who:

  • are EU based (Soon expanding to US, UAE, UK markets)
  • have an established online or bricks-and-mortar store open and ready for business; and
  • hold a valid business ID (also known as a sales tax identification) or equivalent document (i.e. trade certificate).

How does Ethically+ identify and select its Sellers?

Our selection process is based on first-hand experience with sellers as well as credible and legitimate referrals from a strong global network of organizations (including crafts councils, export promotion agencies, handmade sector associations, NGOs and development agencies) interacting directly with sellers. We have been building relationships in the jewelry/diamond/gemstone manufacturing and handmade sector for several years.

When we meet a new seller they undergo a due diligence process during which we assess their ability to produce with high quality and deliver on time. All Ethically+ sellers self report that they are compliant with the following three policies:

  • no children under the age of 16 are involved in the production process;
  • appropriate standards are put in place to ensure artisan safety; and
  • artisans are paid a living wage.

As part of our due diligence, sellers confirm their commitment to one or more of our core values:

  • Artisanal & heritage craft preservation;
  • handmade;
  • product innovation; and
  • sustainable processes

How do I place an order on Ethically+?

Step 1: You discover a seller on the Ethically+ marketplace. Check the seller´s available listings and add items to your order based on the sales type (Auction, Outright or Made to Order). The system will check for the seller's minimum order quantity (MOQ) or Minimum Bid Value or if there are any other requirements you need to comply with. Once these conditions are met, an order is sent to the seller. If you choose Made to order, you can include requests and instructions in the draft order or send an inquiry to the seller before placing the order. If it's an auction, we will notify you if you have won the bid.

Step 2: Sellers will confirm your order within 72 hours. Ethically+ will follow up with the seller if there has not been any action from the seller within 72 hours regarding the order. Seller will upload the invoice and other necessary documents.

Step 3: Once you have confirmed the order details, and made the payment to the Escrow, the order is final.

Step 4: The seller(s) ship the order or begins the production and you can track the progress in your My Transactions → My Purchase tab

Step 5: Upon shipment, you can track the shipment in your My Transactions → My Purchase tab

Step 6: Once your order is delivered, please accept and conclude the transaction. Escrow will be released and the seller will receive the payment.

Where is Ethically+ available for Buyers?

We currently operate in the EU and focus on sales in that territory. We are working to grow our marketplace to cover the US, UAE and the UK in the near future and thank you for your patience.

How do returns work?

Returns are only eligible for Outright sold items. Please choose the Return option instead of Accept from your My Transactions → My Purchase. Please ensure the items are returned without any damage. The shipment provider will process the return shipment. Once the Seller receives the return, the item will be checked for any damages. Upon accepting the return, the Escrow will be released back to you. If the seller has any concern, it will be communicated to the buyer, please check for any messages from the seller. Please note disputes if any regarding the order has to be settled directly with the seller. Ethically+ will provide all the support and information regarding the transaction.

Can I cancel an order?

Once an order is final it cannot be canceled.

How do refunds and returns work?

  1. Refunds. Ethically+ does not offer returns on final orders placed with sellers and only offers refunds under certain limited circumstances as described below.
    1. Shipping damage: If a buyer receives a product that was damaged in shipping please take the following steps:
      1. Take a video/pictures of the shipment box while unboxing.
      2. Send images to the shipping company as they will be the entity covering the cost or replacement or refund.
      3. Keep Ethically+ notified and copied on correspondence.
      4. Check with the shipping company in question to make sure you follow their procedure as they will be issuing the refund.
    2. Significant delays: Buyers should expect orders within a two week window and accept orders up to a month. For delays over a month we encourage buyers to negotiate a discount before canceling the order altogether.
    3. Insufficient quality and missing items: In any of these cases buyers must report the issue within 10 days of receiving the product. If a buyer does not report the issue within this time period, the product shall be considered delivered and satisfactory. To report any issue with the order delivered, we would need proof to suitably address your concerns. We therefore request that you take the following steps to ensure that we can provide the fastest, most satisfactory resolution:
      1. If there is any discrepancy between the sample and the product delivered, we request you to share the image of the product and sample side-by-side and articulate your specific issue.
      2. Please share a clear picture/video from different angles of any defect that you may notice on the product.

We always remind our buyers that physical items will have a degree of variance compared to digital images so please ensure you have read the disclaimers carefully on the product page or in your custom order quotation.

How do I pay for orders?

Ethically+ has engaged third-party, licensed service providers (Stripe and Tazapay) to perform many of the services related to payments, including card processing, disbursements, currency exchange, identity verification, fraud analysis, and regulatory compliance. If there are insufficient funds in your bank account when our provider processes the payment, Ethically+ reserves the right to contact you directly and seek payment. By using a third-party service, you may also be subject to an agreement with the third party.

Fees

Ethically+ levies a success fee on each successful transaction. The success fee varies depending on the type of the product. Please see the various success fees:

When will I receive my orders?

Lead times vary depending on the seller, product category and order size:

  • Shipments to the EU will arrive within in 2 weeks
  • Ready-to-ship products will ship from the country of origin and will be received within 2-4 weeks
  • Made-to-order products will ship from the country of origin and will be received within 6-12 weeks, or as decided between the seller and buyer.

Average lead times are visible in each product page. Once the seller accepts your order, the order progress and shipment details will be updated in the My Transaction → My Purchases tab.

Can Ethically+ help me source products specific to my designs?

Absolutely! With our concierge service you can share your designs, mood boards, sketches, photographs, budgets and specifications with us. We will in turn share these with respective sellers to develop and design products according to your vision. Please note that sampling and shipping fees will be applied and that these orders are subject to higher minimum order quantities (MOQs) and sampling fees, with no returns. Can I post my requirements in Ethically+ to receive quotes from Suppliers?

Yes, you can post your requirements using the in built features in Ethically+ and receive quotes from Suppliers.

Seller FAQs

How do I apply?

To get your organization featured on Ethically+, please fill signup as a seller form to help us to understand your business. Please check the user profile section to see if any additional questions or information regarding the KYC has been requested for. All sellers are welcome to sign up, however Ethically+ is only able to accept sellers that pass the KYC verification process.

What happens next?

Once you have successfully gone through our due diligence process, you can use our tools to create your assets and collection pages, upload your product images, descriptions and any additional company information. Some sellers prefer to upload their own images and descriptions while others ask for support. For our team to help we need either (i) your catalog and product images; or (ii) contact us so that we can support you with the photography process.

What do I need to sell on Ethically+?

We welcome applications from businesses and organizations who meet the following criteria:

  • Your products are not shipped from or made in countries subject to sanctions or other economic measures affecting this sector
  • You own your brand and your products and are involved in the design or production process.
  • You satisfy our due diligence requirements.

What can I sell on Ethically+?

You may sell any product that falls in the categories listed on the site, including:

  • Raw materials such as Precious metals, diamonds and gemstones
  • Cut & Polished or refined materials such as Precious metals, diamonds and gemstones
  • Jewelry

Where is Ethically+ available for Sellers?

We are currently onboarding sellers from selected Asian countries (India and Thailand) and selected African countries (list to be updated soon). We are working to open up the Marketplace to sellers from other countries.

What does it take to get onboarded to Ethically+ Market?

We try to make the process as easy as possible. Once you have successfully completed our due diligence requirements we:

  • Give you access to our seller portal to upload product images, descriptions and additional company information. Our team can help you with this process.
  • Ethically+ merchandising team then helps curate your products collection, meaning we may feature some of your products while excluding others
  • Through your seller portal you can continue to edit and submit new product styles and variants at any time for further review and posting to your collection page

The onboarding process and the time it takes depends on the KYC information that has been provided and the verification for the same. Our onboarding team can assist you as much as you need.

How does Ethically+ sell my products?

We have a multifaceted approach to connect you to international buyers including:

  • In-house sales representatives communicating with buyers on a daily basis
  • A network of European buyers and retailers
  • Marketing, PR and ad campaigns across social media and industry publications
  • Strategic partnerships with tradeshows and relevant networks

How do customization and made to order work?

We believe that sellers like you are in a unique position to meet the current needs of retail: unique product development and lower minimum order (MOQs) quantities.

Retailers are encouraged to customize and buy exclusive items for their shop. When uploading your products, you have the option to choose the custom order. If a buyer is interested in an exclusive alternative, the buyer can directly message you regarding the request. Sellers can use the in-built messaging tools to send custom quotes to the buyer. We ask that you reply within 48 hours or risk the order being canceled.

Fees

Ethically+ levies a success fee on each successful transaction. The success fee varies depending on the type of the product. Please see the various success fees:

How do international payments work?

We can pay sellers by bank transfer.

We recommend an account number and bank information to be updated in the user profile section. The payouts are processed through our third party service providers (Stripe connect and Tazapay). We aim to offer more payout options soon.

How will I be notified about new orders?

You will receive an order enquiry when an order has been placed including all of the details. You can also access all of your order details when you log into your Ethically+ seller portal and select the My Transaction → My Sales tab.

How does the order process, fulfillment and shipping work?

Step 1: Buyer discovers you (seller) on the Ethically+ wholesale marketplace and places a wholesale order based on the sales type (Auction, Outright, Made to order) . The buyer can also see if the seller accepts orders.

Step 2: seller approves the order details, provides invoice with costs including the shipping cost and insurance.

Step 3: Buyer approves the order and the costs. The order is final upon making the payment.

Step 4: Once the order is completed the seller ships the order (adding shipping information to the seller portal). The buyer can track the shipment in My Transactions→My Purchase tab.

Step 5: Buyer receives the order.

Step 6: Buyer accepts or returns (only available for outright) the order. If the Buyer accepts the order, the payment is released to the seller, after deducting the Ethically+ success fee. If the Buyer returns the outright purchase order, return shipment is processed. The seller receives the items back and completes the transaction. The payment is returned to the Buyer minus the shipment fees.

How do returns work on Ethically+?

Ethically+ does not offer returns on finalized orders and only offers refunds under certain limited circumstances as described below.

  1. Shipping damage
  2. Significant delays
  3. Insufficient quality and missing items

In cases where full refunds are issued, rejected products can be shipped to an address provided by Ethically+ (we will contact the Buyer separately regarding the address) and may be resold.

How can I receive Jobworks?

Please upgrade your plan from Basic to either Seller Standard or Seller Premium to post your jobwork services into Ethically+ Marketplace. Buyers can view your services and contact you directly for any jobwork outsourcing proposals.

How can I manage my Inventory?

Please upgrade your plan to Seller Premium to access our integrated inventory management suite.

I want to manage and organize my inventory and do not wish to sell, how can I do that?

Please subscribe to our Inventory SaaS plan and use our in-built tools to manage your inventory.

I want to buy listed items by other sellers, how do I do that?

Please upgrade to our Trader plan in order to sell, buy and resell items within Ethically+ Marketplace.
